Since 1887, Pratt has been committed to educating creative professional leaders through programs in architecture, art, and design. Pratt now offers programs in creative writing, film, fashion, art education, and critical and visual studies and more in addition. Courses are taught by some of the top architects, designers, writers, and artists in New York, and all programs give students an opportunity to begin specialized studies in their first year. Pratt s curriculum balances creative application and theory with a solid liberal arts foundation for the most comprehensive education possible. Situated on an enclosed, 25-acre tree-lined campus in Brooklyn, Pratt offers an intimate college experience, and also has a campus in Manhattan for two-year programs and a partnership with the Munson-Williams-Proctor Art Institute in Utica. A dedicated career services department works to place students in internships and in full-time positions after graduation. Programs: Pratt Institute offers a variety of programs in nearly all fields of art leading to Associate, Bachelor, and Master degrees through the School of Architecture, School of Art and Design, School of Information and Library Science, and the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Pratt also offers students the option to complete the first two years of their BFA programs in fine art, art education, and communications design at the Munson-Williams-Proctor Art Institute in Utica, NY. Location: The main campus of Pratt Institute is located in Brooklyn at 200 Willoughby Avenue. Pratt s Manhattan campus is found at 144 West 14th Street, and the Munson-Williams-Proctor Art Institute is at 310 Genesee Street in Utica. Attending the first two years at Munson-Williams-Proctor gives students a small-town atmosphere, while the Brooklyn and Manhattan campuses afford all the resources New York City has to offer a student of the arts. Admissions: Admissions are based on evaluation of several factors, including a portfolio. Nearly every program requires a (art or writing) portfolio, and prospective students are encouraged to submit their work in slide form or in person. Financial Aid: Pratt Institute offers several forms of financial aid to students, including Federal and state aid programs, as well as the Pratt Grant and Presidential Merit-Based Scholarship. More than 80% of Pratt students receive a form of financial aid. Career Services: The Career Services Department is available to students from the first day of enrollment. Services include career planning, resume writing, portfolio development, access to the Virtual Career Library, and job postings.
